Why Book a Vacation Rental Over a Hotel For Your Next Family Vacation?

When most vacationers think about a family vacation, they automatically think of a hotel as the most budget friendly choice, but that is not always the case. Many families often go with a recognized hotel over a rental, as they figure it is the safest option. They've been there before, they know what to expect, and they are easy to book. However, by staying at the same chain hotels, you are only limiting your vacation possibilities.

Hotels vs. Rentals

To be fair to hotels, they do have some advantages over rentals. For one, most all hotels have room service, valet parking, and an available pool/workout facility. Only some rentals have access to these types of amenities. Most hotels also have no policy on your length of stay. You can stay there one night, two nights, heck, some even rent by the hour, but we aren't about to go there. The point is, there are more stay options to a hotel. But the comparisons run much deeper than this:

Food Budget

When staying at your typical hotel, you have already set yourself up for dining out multiple times. Some may have a kitchenette, but these are usually useless beyond very basic cooking and food storage. The convenience of most rentals, which often consist of either a condo, townhome, or personal house, is the use of a full kitchen. This allows you to do some light cooking, which can save a lot of money when on a budget.

Privacy

The other advantage of rentals is their larger square area and available rooms, which translates into more privacy. Parents will particularly enjoy this feature, which will allow for a few romantic highlights that your typical hotel family hotel room won't allow. Most family members will actually enjoy a vacation more if they have the opportunity to retreat to their own room. We love our families, but an entire week or two of nothing but being together can get a little annoying.

Convenience

Rentals offer a little piece of home beyond a kitchen and extra space. Most rentals have access to a washer and dryer at no extra charge. This means you can pack lighter, which is a big deal considering most airlines today charge a fee per bag, and even more fees for heavy ones. If you have a pet, rentals are usually more apt to accept your furry friend than a hotel. Most hotels have to adhere to a strict nationwide policy without exception.

Charm

Let's face it, if you've seen one hotel, you have seen them all. They are designed to accommodate as many people as efficiently as possible, and charm is not usually a part of this goal. On the other hand, most rentals strive to make your stay as close to home as possible, with decorative furniture, art, knickknacks, and colorful painted walls.

The Family Vacation - A Vacation From Peers

As adults we have been conditioned by popular media, by our kids and by memories of our own youth to think that our kids' friends are vital to their happiness and enjoyment of life. For many kids and their parents, the thought of having time alone with just their family and no friends tagging along sounds like a nightmare. The funny thing though is that although friendships, in the long run and in the grander scheme of things, are really important at this age, time away from them is important, too.

In the middle school and early teen years our kids are working hard to figure out who they are and who they want to be. As much as they enjoy and love their friends, you may have noticed that they behave differently with them than they do when alone with your family. The family vacation and even the family day trip or outing is a vital time for families to reconnect and when done in the absence of friends, provides your child the opportunity to be your kid again - free from the fetters and pressures of being a "pre-teen" or a "teen". Free to do the activities that they enjoy without embarrassment or pressure. Free to be a kid again.

With the days of summer waning, I hope that you will find the time to take a day or two away to be alone with your family and connect with your kids. As important as peers are to them, you are still more important. As much as they want to spend time with their friends, they need to spend time with you.

Some Cost Effective Ways to Enjoy a Family Vacation

Budget planning is an essential aspect that ensures an enjoyable family vacation or holiday trip. However, not many people have a clear idea about ways in which a holiday trip can be planned economically. In this article, you will read about some of the most simple yet highly cost effective tips that will make your vacation a memorable one.

Planning the trip at least in some advance is a simple yet cost effective means by which a vacation can be enjoyed thoroughly. First of all, this can help you to avail attractive deals on accommodation as well as airfare. For instance, if you are planning a vacation during the peak season you would save a lot of money by planning your trip in some advance. Moreover, it will help you to negotiate your deal with the travel agent in a better way. Another way to reduce accommodation expenses to a large extent is by renting a vacation home. There are a number of vacation homes in some of the most popular tourist spots that are significantly cheaper when compared to hotels. Opting for these homes can help you to enjoy an affordable holiday trip.

Many of us pay little attention when it comes to packing things that we need to carry while we are on a trip. For example, instead of buying toiletries it is considered best to carry some essential toiletries. Likewise, instead of hiring a travel guide you can save a lot of money by collecting information about the places of interest online. You can also buy some travel journals as well as travel manuals that can provide you all the details about the place you are planning to visit. These simple tips can ensure that you enjoy a well planned trip that is also economical and affordable.

Orange County Limo and Family Vacation in Orange County

Taking your family on a vacation to Orange County is not a bad idea, nor is hiring an Orange County limousine for that. Both goes hand in hand; a vacation in Orange County (OC) will keep your family happy, and a ride on Orange County limo during the vacation will keep them relaxed. The fun and excitement of the vacation will get doubled if you hire an elegant and stylish Chrysler 300 limo from any Chrysler 300 limo service in Orange County.

Why to avail Chrysler 300 limo service in Orange County

Chrysler 300 limo is long exotic, lavish, and elegant. It has all the plush facilities like full bar, entertainment center, etc. It can accommodate up to 10 people, which is enough for a family to have fun. The class and royalty of this Orange County limousine are par excellence. Your family will drool over it, and if you shop wisely for a Chrysler 300 limo service in Orange County then you can get this limo at a reasonable price. Some Chrysler 300 limo service providers also offer cars that have color-changing neon ceiling.

What to see in Orange County

Now, as the ride has been decided, it is time to see where all you should take your family in Orange County. Orange County is a famous with-family tourist destination, so there will not be any dearth of locations to go to. Just a brief research on the Internet will fetch a long list of locations to go to when in OC, but in order to help you take your family to the best OC locations, I am providing here names of some of the places you must go.

Anaheim

If you are going to Orange County and not going towards Anaheim then you will miss most of the fun, as Anaheim is the main tourist hub in OC. Anaheim is a home to Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure Park, Downtown Disney, Adventure City, couple of sports stadiums, and many more.

  • Disneyland: This Disneyland can be said to be the original Disneyland, as it is the only Disneyland that got designed and built under the able supervision of visionary Walt Disney. This 85-acre theme park has welcomed more than 525 million visitors since its inauguration in July 1955. It has seen some notable persona including several state leaders, and presidents of unites States as well. No vacation in OC is complete without a visit to Disneyland.
  • Disney's California Adventure Park: This is also a theme park situated beside Disneyland Park. This 55-acre theme park was built to transform Disneyland area and its hotel into Disneyland Resort. This park consists of 5 areas, and each area enlivens various aspects of California, its culture, landmark, and history. The park is divided into the following 5 areas:
    • Sunshine Plaza
    • Hollywood Pictures Backlot
    • The Golden State
    • A Bug's Land
    • Paradise Pier
  • Downtown Disney: This is an outdoor entertainment, shopping, and dining area. Downtown Disney has been modeled on a garden walk of Disneyland Resort. It was also constructed during the expansion phase.
  • Adventure City: Adventure City is another theme park that you would like to take your family to. This theme park is not as big as Disney's theme parks, but still it is worth seeing. It was build during the expansion of Hobby City. As the name suggest, this theme park is full of adventure. The main attractions of this theme parks are: Arcade, Balloon Race (spinning balloon ride), Barnstomer Planes (spinning airplane ride), Drop Zone (a tower drop ride), Crazy Bus, Carousel, Children's, Petting Farm, Crank 'n' Roll (Kid-powered 'train' ride), Express Train, Freeway Coaster, Giggle Wheel, Rescue Ride, Thomas and Friends, Tree Top Racers, and Mount Adventurous.
Apart from these, you can also take your family to Buena Park. It is another destination must exploring while on an orange County limo ride to Anaheim. This is located near the city and it is home to Knott's Berry Farm theme park, and Knott's Soak City is the park. The E-zone of Buena Park is also very famous.

Shopping

No family vacation is complete without shopping. OC will not disappoint you even in this, and an O County limo that I asked you to book will come handy in carrying the things you and your family will buy in OC's shopping malls. It has many notable malls like Downtown Disney near Disneyland, The Block at Orange, The Shops at Mission Viejo, South Coast Plaza, Brea Mall, Fashion Island, and the Irvine Spectrum Center, etc.

When Planning a Family Vacation, Let Teens Have a Say

Planning a family vacation trip with teens is often not an experience many parents enjoy. Teens by definition are stubborn and on the verge of breaking away from the family to become independent and on their own. So why are parents doing this with their offspring?

Aside from the experiences you are giving your child and memories you are creating, this may be perfect timing for a family who has become distant from each other to once more come together. Parents often feel the they want to enjoy their children in the short time they have left as soon their child will be leaving the family home. The parents may want to try to bring back once again that family feeling of closeness and support.

Family trips with teens can work well if you work with some of these hints below to get your teenager involved with the family vacation getaway.

* Have your child share his/her ideas while talking about the family trip. What are their thoughts about the destination and mode of travel? What thoughts do they have in the schedules that are being planned?

* Give them some leeway in helping with the planning. Most teenagers are computer literate and enjoy surfing the net. Let them be your travel agent. Have them search for the lowest discount price on plane tickets, hotel rooms and any other package deals that apply. Tell them what your budget is and as an added incentive, pay them a percentage of the money they save you if they come up with some great prices.

* If it is in your price range, allow for accommodations that will allow some privacy for your teenager. This will go a long way towards making your vacation a positive experience. Some personal space will be cherished by both parents and teenagers.

* Get an atlas or road maps of the area you plan to visit and study them together to become familiar with the area before you go. Have them look up the area on the internet and write down activities or local attractions they would be interested in visiting.

* Rent some movies that have that area as a background to get a feel for the locale i.e., The Sound of Music, Under the Tuscan Sun, etc. There is an abundance of movies with locales in Florida, Maine, California, Midwest, National Park backgrounds etc.

* If going abroad, get some language Cds and practice basic phrases with each other at the dinner table. Even the youngest children can pick up Please and Thank You. This will go a long way toward enhancing your family vacation (and it will certainly make points with the locals).

*During your vacation, let the teens select some of the activities for the family to do together. Maybe they just can't visit another local attraction or historical site. Give them some free time to do things of their choice and you'll find them to be more easy going and more apt to defer activities you would like to do. You will probably find that because of this space you give each other, you will be better able to enjoy each others company.

*Maybe you could allow your teenagers take turns deciding on an activities for a day. Let them select the activity, where to eat and what local attractions to visit. This will give your teens a sense of responsibility and confidence. It will also give them a sense that they are an respected part of the family.

*Allowing all family members to have some input when traveling as a family will bring a new experience to the family vacation. You may even find yourself doing some activities you would never have done otherwise.

The final decisions rest with the parents, but if you invite your teenagers to be part of planning they will feel they have a voice and their opinions are important. Because they feel they have had a say in the decision making they may be more disposed to the notion of a family vacation. In the end, your teenagers may also find they have actually enjoyed both the family vacation and spending time with their parents.

Family Vacation : Family Vacation Time - 10 Tips to Help Plan the Perfect Family Vacation

Family Vacation

Summer is fast approaching. And when summer time comes around, school will soon be out and the kids will be stuck at home, bored stiff. They will endlessly ask for things to do so be prepared with a really long list. Better yet, why not go on a family vacation? Summer is definitely the best time to go on a vacation and have quality family fun.

Don't be scared of the seeming numerous things that you have to do and prepare before you can actually go. Let this article help you from the planning, choosing the places to go and do, and the things that you have to pack with you. Stress be gone - its for you to get excited.

For starters, think about where you want to go and what you want to do. Don't forget to consider your budget, of course, because everything pretty much relies on how much you are willing to spend. To make everything more fun and exciting for everyone, you should involve your kids with the planning. Find out their interests and what activities they enjoy doing. If they're old enough to read, you can look at brochures together. If you're dealing with toddlers, you can try showing them pictures of the places you're thinking of going. Making them involved will up the anticipation and they'll definitely look forward to your family vacation.

Here are a few suggestions on where to go and what to do:

1. Theme Parks - it's great to go to theme parks because the entire day slips by so fast. You're not left to worry what to do next because there's never a dull moment in theme parks. The best part is you don't have to go anywhere else. It's a one-stop-shop. Some theme parks are even so big that you wouldn't get to see and experience everything in a day.

2. Water Parks - When the temperature's soaring, you need to cool down. What's the best thing to do? Head to where the water is! What's great about water parks is that they give your usual swimming-by-the-pool a twist - literally. They have slides of different heights, water falls, waves, and geysers. It's a fun way of beating the summer heat.

3. Beaches - no matter which beach you choose, the kids will love to play in the sand and swim in the waves. So if your budget is tight, you don't have to go to fancy resorts. Just head to the beach and soak up the sun.

4. City Tours - go somewhere you've never gone to before. If you've got kids who already go to school, ask them which city they want to go to that they've taken up in school. There are lots of great cities around and each one is welcoming you to do a little sightseeing and experience their local hospitality. Historical cities are your best bets because of their educational value. Most cities also have museums for kids that they'll love to roam around in. And don't forget to taste their local dishes.

5. The Great Outdoors - are you in for a nature trip? The Great Outdoors is the best place to teach your kids to appreciate flora and fauna in their natural habitat. Depending on how adventurous your family is, you can check adventure companies for packages designed for families. If you want to do it on your own, you can always check out National Parks. You can go hiking, camping, fishing, rafting, canoeing, or kayaking.

6. Other Side of the World - if your budget permits, why not go on a family travel to other parts of the globe? Your kids would sure love to experience firsthand the places they only read in books and learn from school. It's like going on a city tour on a larger scale. Just be sure to secure the necessary documents for travels abroad.

7. Train Tours - Hop on the tourist express and explore different places while on the railway. Some tourist trains even transform themselves for holidays and special occasions. Maybe you'll get to go on a special trip.

Upon reaching a decision on where to go and what to do on your family vacation, you're probably thinking what's next? You can try having a dry-run. Especially for families who've decided to go on a nature trip, you might want to stretch those muscles to prepare for the outdoors. If you've signed up for a hiking trip, you might want to start the kids with walking short distances, then on to longer ones, so that they would be up for your adventure.

It would also be a great idea to read up on your destination. You can engage the kids in a little reading time by going through brochures or books about the place or places you'll be seeing. It will pique their interest on the upcoming trip and at the same time, educate them all the more. If you have older kids, they can go online for more information.

When packing clothes for your trip, consider the weather or climate in the place or places you're visiting. Take note if you need waterproof clothing or airy, breathable pieces. If you're going on an outdoors adventure, better be equipped with the proper gear and gadgets.

Among the most important things that you should take with are the following:

1. First Aid Kit - there are ready first aid kits available in the market. You can easily grab one. But just in case you would like to make your own first aid kit, there are first aid kit lists online for your perusal and/or printing.

2. Medications - this could refer to vitamins, antihistamines, anti-asthma, or medicines for daily maintenance. Do not rely on the medicine's availability in the place where you are going. It's better to be prepared than sorry. Also, include bug spray and other insect repellents to your kit.

3. Extra eyeglasses - this is especially important to those who are blind as a bat without their glasses on. You never know what incidents may happen, so it's better to take your extra pair with you since you're never sure if there's an eye doctor who can immediately produce one for you where you are going.

Other things that you may also want to bring are photocopies of important documents such as driver's licenses, passports, and significant phone numbers. If you're traveling to exotic places, don't forget to consider taking vaccinations. Also, pay attention to travel advisories given by the authorities.

Family Vacation : How to Turn a Family Vacation Into a "Eureka!" Moment - The Ultimate Vacation Planning Opportunity

Family Vacation

Just because you're going on vacation with your family doesn't mean that young minds have to go to sleep, and loose their sharpness. A well-planned vacation can be packed with exciting activities to stimulate your child's mind. This is the ultimate vacation planning opportunity, a chance to bond with your kids, and celebrate the learning experience together.

Even a vacation to the beach can awaken in your youngster a range of interests that could lead to truly rewarding careers in biology, bio-physics, astronomy, language, writing, and who know what else...

Most kids complain that school is boring, so why not use your vacation time to awaken their potential. For example lets see how we could turn a Caribbean vacation into a life changing "Eureka!" moment: Instead of planning to spend every day at the beach, use some of this time to explore topics that will awaken the sleeping giant of possibility dormant within your little genius.

For starters consider Caribbean islands like Trinidad and Tobago when planning your vacation, islands that offer more than just pretty beaches and blue seas. Islands where your child's interest in biology could lead you to investigate the numerous species of bird and animal life that are easily accessed in the tropical rain forests, swamps and marshlands of Trinidad and Tobago.

Fostering Your Child's Interest in Biology

Consider a trip to Tamana Bat Caves to experience first hand tens of thousands of bats, a plethora of species including vampire bats, exiting the hidden depths of the earth as they journey forth each evening on their nightly food gathering and hunting forays. Or...

Consider a kayaking adventure into the Nariva Swamp and Bush-Bush Nature Reserve for a face-to-face encounter with an endangered West Indian Manatee, or sea cow. Or a nighttime adventure with giant leather-back sea turtles, dinosaurs of the deep that have been laying their eggs on beaches since the dawn of time. Or go turtle watching when the babies of these lumbering sea giants make their way into the blue Caribbean Sea to begin their own adventures.

Or perhaps simply exploring the tropical gardens of your Trinidad and Tobago hotel to find the minuscule tropical tree frogs whose nightly serenades fill Caribbean night with their song might spark your child's interest in biology.

Fostering Your Child's Interest in History

An interest in history could be sparked by examining Caribbean Pirates and adventurous like Sir Walter Raleigh, and searching out some of the many old colonial forts of Tobago, visiting such romantically named beaches as Pirates, Bloody and Man-O-War Bays, and discovering how these early Caribbean explorers lived.

Fostering Your Child's Interest in Cooking

An interest in cooking could develop after discovering the unusual candies enjoyed by children in Trinidad and Tobago. Candies, or sweets as the are called locally, like Sour-Sweet, which turns your turns blood red; Tamarind Balls, made from the tart fruit of Tamarind trees mixed with cane sugar, or Chinese sweet-and-salt plums, and a range of other delights that even you might find excitingly enjoyable. So...

These are just a few ideas but with an open mind, a little forethought and some preplanning you can keep your kids occupied with educational activities, which they won't even recognize as teaching opportunities because they were having so much fun.

Caribbean family vacations, such as these, become investments in your family's future as much as they do memorable adventures.

Escape with your kids, and learn a thing or two in the bargain...

Family Vacation : Enjoy Fun Filled Adventure on a Family Vacation Cruise

Family Vacation

Cruises aren't only for romance, adults, and college kids. You can take your entire family on a cruise and have just as much fun as you would on any vacation. Many cruise ships today offer family cruise packages with fun stuff for kids and a good, clean atmosphere for the entire family. These usually don't have the typical "partying" atmosphere as many spring break cruises and cruises for adults only. Let's see what family vacation cruises have to offer.

Cruisin' with the Kids

Kids might find a normal cruise boring, but with family cruises, there's a long list of things to do. A cruise that caters to families and kids will allow you to have a great time without having to constantly come up with ways to entertain the kids. There are swimming pools with special kiddie stuff such as water slides or water games, video arcades, on-board games for kids of all ages such as shipboard Olympics, pizza parties, miniature golf, magic shows, sports, concerts, fun educational projects, and more. Some cruises have family-friendly movies and skating. Many offer on-shore kids' adventures and tours to enjoy as you reach each destination.

Where to Go

A tough decision to make is where to go on a family vacation cruise. Some places are just not suitable for families. They might have too much of a party type atmosphere catering to couples or single young adults. Some places are just too boring for the family to enjoy. Compare cruise offerings to find a destination that caters to families with attractions such as zoos, children's museums, amusement parks, water parks, tours of historic sites, or family fun centers. Teens might enjoy more adventurous activities such as snorkeling, parasailing, and hiking. When you exit the boat, you can pick and choose among several attractions to make the whole family happy.

Some great cruise destinations for families include Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida (with Disney Cruises), islands of the Caribbean, Hawaii, California, and Alaska. European cruises are also great for families, allowing you to explore interesting sites in Europe by sea and land.

A Break for Parents

One luxury you'll enjoy on a family cruise is you can take breaks from the kids occasionally. They can enjoy supervised games and activities while you relax in the Jacuzzi, enjoy a romantic dinner, try out a casino, or just sunbathe by the pool. Many cruises have a trained youth staff for various age groups to direct the children's activities. A schedule of kid's activities is provided so parents and kids will know how to plan each day.

Find the Perfect Family Cruise

Family cruises are easy to book using the Internet. Check out some of the main cruise lines to find out what they offer and what destinations are available. Some of the most popular are Disney Cruises, Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess, Norwegian Cruise Line, Crystal Cruises, and Costa Cruise Lines. You can easily choose a cruise package that will fit your family's budget. But be sure to book a cruise that offers activities your family will enjoy. It should be a vacation to please everyone.

Some online resources to book a family cruise are Travelocity, Expedia, Travelzoo, and Orbitz. You can usually get discounted tickets by securing an all-inclusive family cruise package. An all-inclusive cruise will include meals, lodging, transportation, and some forms of entertainment. Be sure to find out what's included and what's not so you'll know how to plan financially for the trip.

If your family vacations seem a little drab lately, a family cruise can provide the new, thrilling adventure your family has been longing for!

Family Vacation : Adventure Vacation Package - What's in and Out?

Family Vacation

An adventure vacation package is always a priority for travelers. Before deciding what part of the world you want to go to, a review of the package you received from the tourist company is a great help to enjoy your trip. This will make you aware of the coverage of all the money you spend for the trip, and to evaluate whether the tourist company has been generous to you or not. You may also want to make comparisons before you decide for your next trip.

Here are common things that tourist companies include in an adventure vacation package. It will surely cover your airfare during arrival and departure assistance and transfers. All entrance fee and sight seeing programs are in the deal. Do not pay for any fee during a round trip, because it is the company that pays, but exclude your personal shopping at the place. When it comes to your lodging, it is the travel agency that makes arrangements for hotel reservations. This is always included in the package. Also, all local flight tours and other transportation fees are in the adventure vacation package already. Lastly, the licensed escort or tour guides are to be paid for by the company.

On the other hand, here are the things not to expect included in the deal. First, your laundry bill is not already the concern of the travel agency. This is the same for your telephone, wines, or liquors bill. Do not expect your travel agency to be in-charge of paying your Visitor's Visa. They may only help with your stay on it. Most especially, be aware that whatever your stomach asks for during the trip is not their concern. Foods and beverages are not included in the deal. You will spend for your own meals during the vacation, but there are also tourist agencies that offer meal service during the trip, but at different rates of course. Your shopping is also not included in the adventure vacation package.

While you are still planning for the trip, make comparisons first. You may surf the net to locate interesting websites for the travel. This will surely help you decide for the best package deal that you can have. Read travel reviews on the internet about the travel agencies that you are planning to contact. Be aware of those who offer fair discounts but still provide good service. You may want to look for suggestions from friends and chat with those who have already been to that place. Family Vacation : Looking For a Family Vacation Adventure? The Grand Canyon is the The Ticket!

Family Vacation Adventure

The Grand Canyon in Arizona is enormous in size. You can't just drive to the gorge, spend some time looking around and then leave. To really make the most of a visit to this National Park, you must take a few hikes, ride the Colorado River and explore each corner open to tourists. The many different views the Grand Canyon can give you will certainly be a surprise.

The Canyon attracts millions of people each year with its colorful landscape, immense size, and awe-inspiring geology. This natural wonder presents obstacles that can leave even the experienced hikers emerging sore and fatigued, including the scorching heat during the summer months, an altitude of 7,000 feet and steep, rocky, winding trails.

Here are some ways you can take in the mystique of the Grand Canyon:

The South Rim. Aside from the view of this magnificent gorge, you get a close look at some historical buildings and ruins.

Toroweap Overlook. This popular overlook is on the North Rim and is 3,000 feet straight up from the river. This gives you a breath-taking view due to the steepness of the gorge.

Grand Canyon Skywalk. This gives you quite a scary view and really gets your heart pounding since it is a glass-bottom walkway that extends out from the edge of the gorge. The Skywalk is officially open from dawn to dusk, seven days a week.

Lipan Point. Also at the South Rim, this marks the starting point of the Tanner Trail. Take some time to grasp the beauty of the Canyon from Lipan Point before heading down the trail.

Tanner Trail. This trail heads towards the floor of the gorge and can be a challenging hike. The view of the Canyon from this trail is overwhelming.

Bright Angel Trail. The South Rim is where the most popular hike exists. The Bright Angel Trail is located near the Grand Canyon Village. On the North Rim, North Kailbab is the most popular hiking trail.

Whitewater Rafting. Some visitors prefer to go down to the bottom of the river by foot, while others prefer to ride the river. Being at the Grand Canyon bottom where you are thrown by the water, and surrounded by huge rocks can be an astounding experience.

Aerial View. Some people prefer the aerial view from a helicopter from one of the many charter services that will give you a bird's eye view of the Grand Canyon. Tour operators can be located at the Grand Canyon Airport, which is five miles south of the park or in Sedona.

Mule ride. Take a mule ride down the side of the Canyon. There are several companies who perform this magnificent view as you travel down the inside of the Canyon.

The Grand Canyon can be a great family vacation adventure on a budget. If you like camping The North Rim is open for campers free of charge. Also there are plenty of benches and tables set up for eating. So make sure you pack your sleeping bags, tents and food so you won't need to spend any money for lodging or dining while visiting the Grand Canyon!

Family Vacation : 5 Things To Do In London

Family Vacation

Article Summary: There's a variety of things to do in London, especially for a tourist with limited time and budget. With a little guidance, a London trip can turn out to be the experience of a lifetime!

London has been one of the forerunners of cities that command a lion’s share in the United Kingdom’s as well as the world’s economy and entertainment arena. Named by New York Magazine as the world capital of the 21st century, London is definitely the place to spend a good vacation. With so many places to visit and so much to do, one may easily be lost in the quagmire of things to do in London. However, to make matters easy, here’s a checklist of 5 things you must not miss out while visiting London:

* Visit Everything Royal – So what is London, or for that matter, UK famous for? A large majority would answer ‘royalty’! The rich history and traditions of the Victorian past and the best features of the erstwhile-imperial power has been kept intact in various areas of London. This includes the Buckingham Palace, where the Queen resides. Apart from this, the various forts and towers and domes (The O2) would provide an architectural wonderland for the uninitiated. London is probably the best place to revisit British monarchy at its peak of power in the 17th and 18th century!

* Sightseeing – London, though being the economic and commercial capital of the world, will surprise you with its variety of sightseeing options, especially parks and natural places. The Tower of London is one of the biggest sightseeing attractions, mostly because of the folklore and mystery surrounding it through fables down the ages. Other popular sightseeing spots include Hyde Park and Regent’s Park, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, The Hampstead Heath, The O2 and the Trafalgar Square.

* Westminster Abbey and Piccadilly Circus – London is famous for its theater and film industry, including ballets and other Shakespearean dance-dramas and musicals staged here. Therefore, while in London, missing out on the famed theatre shows will be a mistake you will regret ever after. Also, visit the famous shopping plazas in and around the Westminster Abbey and Piccadilly Circus, where products from fashion designers and international brands can be found aplenty.

* Music and Sports – If you are a fan of rock and roll, or go ballistic when Chelsea or Arsenal wins the English Premier League, you have come to the right place. London is famous for its music concerts, with a huge number of artists and bands hailing from the British capital. Earls Court, the O2 arena and the Wembley Arena are specifically designed for rock concerts and music festivals. No fan would like to miss out on it by any chance. Spectator sports, especially, soccer (with 13 league teams including five from the famed English Premier League), cricket (with legendary cricket grounds including Lord’s and The Oval), tennis (Wimbledon) and rugby are a popular pastime for Londoners. Hence, if possible grab a ticket to a match and enjoy the vibe and colorful ambiance all along.

* Pubs – Exhausted and wasted from the whole day’s trip? London still has more – its ever-effervescent pubs! The world-famous Hard Rock Café or any of the other award-winning pubs and taverns can provide a multitude of cocktails and beers to refresh you within minutes. Live bands and the all-round ambiance of the pubs can easily help you rejuvenate yourself, preparing you for another day of discovering London!

These can be called, in a nutshell, the five things that should be given the topmost priority while touring to London. With some homework on more details about London, you can very easily enjoy the taste of London without emptying your pockets or running around the enigmatic city confused!

Family Vacation : Getaway to the Exotic Virgin Islands

Family Vacation

Article Summary: Here is a fun article about getting away to an exotic island vacation

without needing an passport: A trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands! Bring the comforts of home with you, because, in a sense, you ARE still home... or at least your home in the U.S.A.

Road Trip Planners in the United States know that Fall is breathing down their backs and if they still want to go on an exotic beach getaway before Summer gives way to Fall, they better already have their passport in hand or... they can go to the U.S. Virgin Islands!

The U.S. Virgin Islands are tucked between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, east of Puerto Rico. The northeast islands are called the British Virgin Islands and the two regions comprise the Virgin Islands archipelago. If diamonds are rated by the four Cs (caret, cut, color, clarity); then these islands could be rated by the four Ss (sun, sand, sea, surf). And as in Hawaii, all beaches in the Virgin Islands are public, meaning that even though you might arrive at a gated community, you must be given access to the beach, even at the fanciest resorts. Oooolala!

3 EASY FACTS TO EASE YOUR BUDGET AND MIND:
* You'll have sunny days no matter when you go. Winter is a comfortable 77ºF (25ºC), and the average summer temperature is 82ºF (28ºC).
* The currency there is the U.S. dollar. ATMs can be found throughout the three islands and most places accept credit cards and travelers checks.
* Even though you can visit it year round and get great weather, the best bargains are actually during the summer months.

OKAY, HERE'S A 4TH FACT THAT'LL EASE YOUR TRAVEL STRESS:
* No adapters are required since they use the standard 120-volt current there.

The above reasons make these islands a shoe-in to add to your road trip planner because you get to experience the foreign flavor without having to be out of your comfort zone, not the least of which is that you drive on the left here as well so... awkward adjustments averted! (Yes, I snuck in a 5th fact for you ;o)

Below are some other facts (and tips) on the four islands that make up the U.S. Virgin Islands: St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix and since 1944, Water Island. You can choose to stay all week on one island and take day trips to the others or you can stay the bulk of your trip on either St. Thomas or St. John then include an overnighter at St. Croix because it's further south.

* St. Thomas (called Rock City by the locals) is enchanting and romantic with a population of about 51,000, nearly half of the total population in the US Virgin Islands. The district is a bit larger than 31 square miles and special points of interest include: Fort Christian, Magens Bay, Magens Bay Arboretum and Blackbeard's Castle. Magens Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and from the harbor in Charlotte Amalie, you'll come across a picturesque village.

* Water Island (a.k.a. Small City) is right below St. Thomas and is accessible by boat (ferry service from Crown Bay on Saint Thomas to Phillips Landing takes only about 10 minutes). Water Island is the fourth and most recently acquired main island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. With 491.5 acres, Water Island is also the smallest of the main U.S. Virgin Islands and is a residential island, with a population of 161 (2000 census). There aren't many commercial establishments and only a few homes that are available to visitors, so it's mainly a day trip excursion. The main attractions are its beaches, including Honeymoon Beach. You can also find plantation ruins, and Fort Segarra, an underground fort partially constructed by the U.S. during World War II.

* St. John is to the east of St. Thomas and has the Virgin Islands National Park. Saint John is an amazing island in the Caribbean Sea and part of the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is the wealthiest and most expensive of the U.S. Virgin Islands, enjoying a level of affluence that is comparable with the nearby island of St. Barts. The island's high level of wealth and prestige has earned it the common distinction of being the "Beverly Hills of the Caribbean". Called Love City by the locals, St. John is one of the world's premiere honeymoon destinations with several notable world class resorts and one of the top ten beaches in the world. St. John is located about 4 miles east of Saint Thomas. It is about 20 square miles in area with a population of less than 4200. It doesn't have an airport so you need to fly into St. Thomas and take one of hourly ferries over to it.

* St. Croix (dubbed Twin City by the locals) is the furthest south. St Croix rocks! Saint Croix is an island in the Caribbean Sea and part of the United States Virgin Islands, an unincorporated territory of the United States. It is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, being 28 by 7 miles. However, the territory's capital, Charlotte Amalie, is located on Saint Thomas. Buck Island Reef National Monument preserves a 176 acre island just north of Saint Croix and the surrounding reefs. This is a popular destination for snorkelers.

Whether you stay at the affordable at Villa Santana ($114-$174/night) or the Ritz Carlton ($279 to $989/night), the beaches and the exotic settings are the true stars. Whichever hotel you end up adding to your Road Trip Planner won't mar the feeling that you're in paradise!

Family Vacation : Ideas For Camp Cooking

Family Vacation

Camp cooking should be easy are fun to do.

A lot of camp cooking is based around a fire, so having a good camp fire, especially one that can produce some good hot coals, is very important.

It is a good idea to always have a billy on the boil for your cups of tea, coffee or instant cup of soup.

Billy Tea can easily be made by adding the desired amount of tea leaves to a billy of boiling water and swinging the billy in a wide arc with your arm 3 to 4 times, by which time the tea should have infused into the water to make the perfect cup.

Pancakes

Combine 1 cup self raising flour with a pinch of salt and 1 egg. Gradually add 1 cup milk and beat until mixture is smooth.

Heat frying pan over fire and add a little butter. Pour in enough mixture to cover pan and cook until bubbles appear. Flip pancake over and cook the other side.

Serve with butter, golden syrup, jam or whatever you like.

Damper

Mix 2 cups self raising flour, pinch of salt and 1/2 cup milk or water and work into a firm dough.

Shape and dust the outside with flour.

Cover with foil and place in hot coals. Cook for about 25-35 minutes.

If you have a camp oven the dough can be placed directly into it and covered with the lid and placed on the hot coals with more coals on the lid.

Check after 25 minutes. It is cooked when it has a golden crust and an inserted skewer comes out clean.

Serve with butter, golden syrup, jam etc.

Beer Damper can be made using beer, instead of the milk, and a tablespoon of butter.

Jaffles

Place a piece of bread in the jaffle iron. Add tinned spaghetti, an egg, leftover stew or anything else you may desire onto the center of the bread (do not overfill). Place another slice of bread on top, close jaffle iron and place amongst the hot coals.

Check after 3-4 minutes. It is cooked when the bread is a toasty colour.

Roasted Marshmallows

These are an all time favorite with kids and adults alike.

Find a long stick and form a pointed tip on one end. Place marshmallow firmly on the end of the stick and place over hot coals, turning stick constantly. Marshmallow is cooked when turns a light golden color, although some people like it on the darker side, which can happen if flames get onto the marshmallow, in which case you just blow out the flames and eat it.

Planning A Vacation At Yosemite Park

With its beautiful waterfalls and stunning rock formations, the Yosemite National Park is an ideal destination for anyone who is planning a vacation in California. Yosemite, one of the oldest national parks in America, is widely known for its valleys, meadows, mountain cliffs and many other captivating sights. The park also boasts of an exclusive collection of flora and fauna. At Yosemite you will find different species of native trees, wildflowers and animals. The huge trees in the Mariposa Grove called ‘Giants of the North West’ also add to the beauty of this place.

The scenic beauty of Yosemite enthralls visitors of all age groups. With a wide range of exciting activities, it has got lots to offer to almost each one of its visitors.

A vacation in Yosemite can thus be a highly rejuvenating experience for you and your family. But to make the most of it, it would be good to plan the following things before you pack your bags:

How To Reach There?

Since Yosemite is easily accessible from almost all metropolitan cities, reaching there is not an issue. If you are keen on driving, you can drive your way to the park. Alternatively, you can take other means of transport. Also, there are bus tours to the park but for these you need to make reservations. The reservations can be made online or by directly visiting a tour operator.

When Is The Right Time To Go?

The park is accessible throughout the year, though certain areas like Tioga Pass, Glacier Point etc. are closed during the winter. Spring and autumn are known to be the best times to visit this place. Also, some areas of the park may not be accessible by car during a certain periods. So if you plan to travel by car, you will have to plan your visit accordingly, so that accessibility is not an issue.

Where To Stay?

For this, firstly you need to decide in advance the number of days that you would like to spend there. If you plan to spend the night, it would be advisable that you get the reservations done for camping or lodging accordingly. The park has many campgrounds, most of which are on a first-come, first-served basis. Although plenty of hotels and lodges are also available, making reservations in advance would help you find the place of your choice.

What To Do Once You Reach There?

There are lots of interesting activities like rock climbing, river rafting, skiing etc that you can take up at Yosemite. Guide books and other reading material are available online at the Yosemite book store that would help you decide things in advance. At the park you can also choose to hike or take a ride. If you really wish to get a first-hand experience of the scenic views of this place, hiking would be a great option. Family Vacation on the Cheap - Go Camping Free Style

Looking for more affordable family vacation? Camping can be the perfect fit for low priced vacation. No matter what, whether you choose national forests or camping grounds in state parks camping will be a memorable family getaway. One may choose several methods and way while planning camping outing, but most families prefer the free style camping. When I say free style camping that means just get a tent and let the fun ball rolling.

Comparing the cost of RV parks or camp site with lots of amenities against the cost of free style camping accessories shopping; the cost is minimal with free style camping. Free style camping needs accessories such as tents, sleeping bags and other camping travel gear for your vacation; the cost is minimal. Also, amenities at camp site will not let you enjoy the real camping experience.

Camping free style gives you a chance to spend time together with family and friends. You can have fun conversation & singing around the campfire, enjoy the mother nature in wide open and these all activities you can do staying away from usual routine life. Camping combines fun, excitement, adventure including a rare experience of getting close to each other while you are on family trip.

As mentioned earlier, you'll need to purchase the basic camp equipment such as a tent, preferably one that will house the whole family, food, a cooler, ice, sleeping bags, camping stove, as well as the following items: pillows, cleaning supplies, folding table, cookware, utensils, cups, and toilet paper (especially if there are no restrooms around), first aid kit, and board games, fishing gear, flashlights, and extra batteries.

Going back to the shopping area for camping, you will need to get the basic camping equipment such as tents which can house whole family, sleeping bags, pillows, camping stove, frozen food, beverage cooler, cleaning supplies, cookware, utensils, cups and toilet paper if needed. Do not forget to carry first aid kit, games, flashlights, battery lamp and extra batteries. Considering your personal preferences do not forget to carry fishing gears and bikes. Regular campers suggest keeping tarp under the tent. Generally tarp prevents water entering into the tent. You can say that tarp serves as a tent floor. These items can be purchased online from Amazon.com or any local shop. These purchases are one time investment

for all future similar family vacation trips.

In addition, now that you have the basic supplies, you can always supplement your gear with additional things, which you might need for the next camping vacation. You can easily check online websites to find a campsite in your state, as well as the low cost for staying in a national park or forest reserve.

Today's busy life has made hard to have some quality time with family together. Camping vacation gives a chance to bring family closer without any distraction to tighten the love bond unique way. Whether mom or dad takes kids for fishing or hiking and one of them can have their leisure time alone. Or may be everyone goes together for adventure activities. Trust me; camping reunites the family unique way than any other type of getaway trip.

Last but not the least; do not forget to carry your camera along with extra batteries to capture all those laughter and memories which you will be able to share over the coming years. I strongly recommend camping for family vacation if you are looking for affordable vacation all together.
